Counselling offers you the opportunity to talk through your challenges or concerns in a safe setting with a trained professional who will listen carefully to your experiences. You will be given the space to air your thoughts, feelings and opinions without being judged. The aim of the sessions will be defined at the beginning of our time together. Counselling is to help you face challenges and resolve hidden hurts and pain, become more self-aware and develop a better understanding of the self hence improving well-being and life.

Counsellors do not give advice or tell you what to do but they rather assist you in identifying and understanding your thought process and uncovering any root issues. Whilst giving you a fresh perspective, counsellors can support you with strategies to help overcome the presenting issues or identify ways of coping or managing them.

Counselling is the not the same as talking to a friend, it is a talking therapy with a person who is qualified to help you deal with all the negative emotions you are feeling. A majority of people typically find talking to a professional counsellor much easier than to a friend or loved on as your counsellor is not personally involved in the situation and is able to listen to you in a non-judgmental manner.

I believe there is no such thing as a “cookie-cutter” format for counselling, thus, each session with Serene Counselling Services is tailored to the individual and their specific needs.

Within counselling there is a wide range of different approaches, the specific approach used with a client will be determined by your counsellor based solely on you as an individual and the issues you are facing. The main forms of approaches used at Serene Counselling Service include:
